Usability Enhancements in FINCAD XL Version 11

Along with many new functions and workbooks that have been created across multiple asset classes, there have been usability upgrades made to make FINCAD XL even easier to use. The changes that have been made include:

  • New sensitivity analysis tool allowing the user to shock single or multiple inputs and see the results either in a table or graphically
  • Paste example enhancements
    • See restrictions and notes
    • Output all available cash flow tables
  • Custom ribbon for Microsoft Excel 2007

Sensitivity Analysis Tool

This new tool allows the user to see the results of a scenario analysis, either in a table and/or in graphs. The user is given the ability to either risk adjust single or multiple variables.

Paste Example enhancements

One of the key usability features within FINCAD XL is the Function Finder and the ability to paste a working example of any function. To make it even easier for the user, changes have been made in two areas:

  • Pasting notes and restrictions
    • The ability to paste the notes describing the flexibility of the function and to see the restrictions on inputs will save the user time. The information contained in the new paste format comes from the Function Reference document. The user no longer needs to have the Function Reference and spreadsheet open at the same time.

  • Output multiple table types
    • Many of our functions that generate tables (cash flows, dates, reset rates, etc.) allow the user to select from multiple outputs. We have made it even easier to see the various outputs by allowing the users to select, with the push of a button, all of the available table types. The function will now paste each available output one on top of the other complete with appropriate labels.

Custom ribbon

For v11, FINCAD has introduced its own ribbon in Microsoft Excel 2007. The user no longer has to access FINCAD XL through the 'Add-ins' menu making it quicker to find the right function or workbook to use.
