Vancouver, BC, May 15, 2018 - FINCAD, the leading provider of enterprise portfolio and risk analytics for multi-asset derivatives and fixed income, is pleased to announce its 2018 Women in Finance Scholarship is now accepting applications. The goal of the program is to encourage outstanding women in the field of finance, particularly those pursuing careers in the capital markets and/or financial risk management.
Motivated by the reality that finance is a field largely dominated by men, FINCAD CEO and President, Bob Park, established the scholarship program in 2014. “The capital markets have traditionally been a ‘boys club.’ While more women are entering these careers than in the past, there continues to be a glaring gender gap,” commented Bob. “This is particularly true for the middle- to senior level management finance jobs, which are heavily male-dominated. By extending this scholarship, we hope to do our part in leveling this imbalance. We are honored to provide a qualified woman the support she might need to cultivate her skills in this fast-growing field.”
In an interview, last year’s winner, Shagoon Malholtra explained how the scholarship would reduce the financial stress of being a full-time student. “I couldn’t be more pleased and relieved that I have been given this amazing opportunity. The award is going to lighten my financial burden and allow me to stay focused on my studies,” said Shagoon. “In addition to the financial support, I feel honored that, of all the accomplished applicants, FINCAD selected me. This vote of confidence in my abilities only gives me more motivation to work hard and achieve my goals.”
Now in its fourth year, the FINCAD Women in Finance Scholarship Program offers an award of US$10,000 to support graduate-level studies to one recipient each calendar year. This program is open to women of any age and citizenship who are studying finance in a graduate-level program at an accredited institution.
